For the past several years, Dr. Baker has served as Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of BioCurity, a biotechnology company developing products in which nanoparticles are used as radiation-protective agents.
During 2005-2010, she served as Director of the Cancer Research Institute of MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, Florida where she built a credible team of doctoral level investigators and technical staff and instituted new and exciting cancer research projects, many in collaboration with national academic institutions and pharmaceutical sites. Several have led to patent applications/device testing and data generation necessary for FDA approval.
After earning a PhD in Chemistry, Dr. Baker completed her post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas under the renowned Dr. Isaiah Fidler. For several years, she conducted research in the laboratory of Dr. Judah Folkman at the Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
